Jr. & Sr. @ Detroit, Michigan

Arriving with the team on Sunday, the day was dreary with rain and cool air. We ended up driving over the border to visit Canada as some of the players had the chance to witness Ontario, Canada first hand. A very quiet laid back environment, and amazingly nice. Some of the team players included Mr. Mehdi, Mr. Hernan, Nicholas, Dennis, Stephen, and Milad. We were able to walk around and see the beautiful view from the lake and the city of downtown Windsor. Milad commented on the "PIZZA PIZZA", store. "I thought it was pretty good and pretty tasty" Milad very well enjoyed it, since he had the most amount of slices eaten. But, overall it was a very pleasant visit to Canada.

Monday, The team pretty much ended up hanging and relaxing after waiting to receive their credentials and for some to weigh in. It has been confirmed that Miss. Cheryl has moved up a weight division. Although the challenge will be there, the ambition will show in the ring.

 The usage of the computer was hard to do while in Detroit, as the divisions were so spread for the team, on average of coming back to the hotel would be around 10 pm. Late as it was for the team, the outcome wasn't so bad as we had thought. The following individuals and their results;

Greg Miranda = (Bronze) Gyoorgi

Overall the experience was exhausting. I believe this year the team was limited in seeing Detroit as said earlier, the divisions were so spread out that the time commited us to the Ford Field house almost all day. The event ran smoothly by the staff of USAT. We thank Mark, Travis, Edward, Stephanie, Bill, Sherman, Linda, and the rest of the staff members. But, the refereeing simply needed more experienced veterans in the ring. There were too many refs making too many "human errors" and not applying their own rules that governs the field of play. Every actions that some of the refs did, simply posed a threat to the taekwondo community, by abusing authority and giving excuses for their calls. There were times where the refs that made the mistake, were even counseled for their decisions. That simply displays that there are simple problems that should of been fixed before a big event as this. This seems to continue and the effects are going to make differences in choosing where to direct our team members to play. Its up in the air, AAU or USAT? Which do you think is better, and what are the pro's and con's of each? We'd like to hear your comments.

Please be sure to visit back as we continue to update the website.
